The Blood of the Eternal Covenant
December 15, 2013 Preacher: Series: Hebrews
Passage: Hebrews 9:15– :28
Point # 1 Sins committed under the first covenant are atoned in Jesus Christ (Heb. 9:15; Rom. 3:25-26)
Point # 2 The need for the death of the covenant ratifier (16-22).
Point # 3The need for the real – the ultimate – to replace the copy, the type (23-26).
Point # 4 Jesus the Judge (27-28).
A better translation of verses 16 and 17:
16 “In the case of a covenant, it is necessary for the death of the one who ratifies it to be brought forward (or, presented). 17 For a covenant is made legally secure on the basis of the “dead ones” [this word in Greek is plural] since it is never valid while the ratifier lives.”
