Passage: Romans 3:27– 4:8
“Justification By Faith Alone” (part I)
Romans 3:27- 4:1-8
Point # 1: Justification by faith alone excludes any possibility of boasting on the part of Jews (3:27–28)
Point # 2: Justification by faith alone, without any mixture of works of the law, is necessary because God is the God of Gentiles as well as Jews (3:29-30)
Point # 3: Justification by faith alone does not nullify but “establishes” the law—it enables it to be truly fulfilled (3:31)
Point # 4: Justification by faith alone excludes Jewish boasting, as in the case of Abraham (3:27-4:2)
Point # 5 Justification by faith alone is necessary to preserve grace, as in the case of Abraham (4:3-8)
Justification consists of two parts:
a) The forgiveness of sin.
b) The imputation of Jesus’ righteousness to the sinner.
Synergism: the false view that God and humans work together
