Angels

• Remember the days of old; consider the years of many generations; ask your father, and he will how you, your elders, and they will tell you. When the Most High gave to the nations their inheritance, when he divided mankind, he fixed the borders of the peoples according to the number of the sons of God. (Deut 32:7–8 ESV)

• The prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me twenty-one days, but Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, for I was left there with the kings of Persia, and came to make you understand what is to happen to your people in the latter days. For the vision is for days yet to come. (Dan 10:13–14)

• Revelation 2–3.

• Paul wants women to cover their hair “because of the angels” (1 Cor 10:10).

• Paul explains in Ephesians that the mystery of the Gospel came “so that through the church the manifold wisdom of God might now be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly places” (Eph 3:10).

• Our battle is not “against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places” (Eph 6:12).

• Ezekiel 1

• Paul says in Ephesians 2:10, Christ recreated us “for good works.”

The Tabernacle

• Some way up the mountain Moses and few others “saw the God of Israel,” according to Moses, and “There was under his feet as it were a pavement of sapphire stone, like the very heaven for clearness” (Exod 24:10).

• Then Moses went up on the mountain, and the cloud covered the mountain. The glory of the Lord dwelt on Mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it six days. And on the seventh day he called to Moses out of the midst of the cloud. Now the appearance of the glory of the Lord was like a devouring fire on the top of the mountain in the sight of the people of Israel. Moses entered the cloud and went up on the mountain. And Moses was on the mountain forty days and forty nights. (Exod 24:15–18)

• As Exodus 25:40 says, Moses made the tabernacle “after the pattern” which he saw on the mountain.

• Priests “serve a copy and shadow of the heavenly things. For when Moses was about to erect the tent, he was instructed by God, saying, ‘See that you make everything according to the pattern that was shown you on the mountain’” (Heb 8:5)

• Moses made what he saw in heaven on earth. So Psalm 78:69 reads, “He built his sanctuary like the high heavens, like the earth, which he has founded forever.”

• But when Christ appeared as a high priest of the good things that have come, then through the greater and more perfect tent (not made with hands, that is, not of this creation) he entered once for all into the holy places, not by means of the blood of goats and calves but by means of his own blood, thus securing an eternal redemption. (Heb 9:11–12)

• Thus it was necessary for the copies of the heavenly things to be purified with these rites, but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these. For Christ has entered, not into holy places made with hands, which are copies of the true things, but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God on our behalf. (Heb 9:23–24)

• God says in Exodus 25:22, “There I will meet with you.”

• John 1:14.

• John 2:19, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.” And John explains that Jesus meant his body (John 2:21). Christ becomes the place where heaven and earth meet.

• Paul says in Ephesians 1:3 that we have every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ.
