Contented Christian Discipleship

Passage: Mark 8:34–35, 1 Timothy 6:6–8, Philippians 4:10–13
- Discontentment comes through a satanic disconnect in our understanding of Christian discipleship. We must pick up our cross, deny ourselves, and follow Jesus in death. Whoever loses their life for Jesus and for the gospel will save their life(Mark 8:34-35).
- Christian disciples must resolve to learnthe secret of Christian contentment: rejoice greatly in the Lord. You can do this through him who gives you strength (Phil. 4:10-13).
- Godliness with contentment is great gain for the Christian disciple. Contentment is found in having a biblical perspective on birth and death, and in having food and clothing. “Only the godly will be content, and all the contented will be godly.” (1 Tim 6:6-8)
