Clarification: What exactly does it mean to ‘set our minds on things above’?

Answer: The gospel has changed our perspective on life. We have a new mindset. We now must live in the reality that the risen Jesus is the supreme authority over the world. We must organize the priorities of our lives so that we make time for things that will last into eternity, such as evangelism, discipling other Christians, parenting, etc. We must die to our own desires, and promote the cause of the gospel.

Paul instructs the Colossians on what it looks like to have this mindset:

• In the home. (3:18-4:1)

• In prayer. (4:2-4)

• In the world. (4:5-6)
