How does Jesus Confront Sin?
October 15, 2023 Preacher: John Bell Series: The Gospel According to Mark
Passage: Mark 1:40– 2:17
Big Picture: Jesus confronts sin in his public ministry in a way that reveals to people something of who he is.
How does Jesus confront sin?
1. With holy indignation and a cleansing touch (1:40-45)
2. By forgiving the sinner, a prerogative of God alone (2:1-12)
3. With grace (2:13-17)
This is all expressed in a context of divine, messianic authority. But Jesus is also the main party sinned against, thus making Jesus’ compassion and grace utterly unique.
