Big Picture: Our discipleship to Jesus and to one another must always be defined by the cross of our Messiah. At no point does the way of Jesus diverge more sharply from the way of the world than on
the question of greatness.

The Nature of Christian Discipleship
(Mark 8:34) “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.”
(Mark 9:35) “Anyone who wants to be first must be the very last, and the servant of all.”
(Mark 10:43-45) “Whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all. For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
