The Big Idea: Because Jesus is the eternal King-Priest who reigns now and will finally defeat every enemy, we must take refuge in Him and gladly submit to His rule.

The Big Idea for Kids: Jesus is God's forever King who takes care of His people and will one day make everything right.

Psalm 110 in the New Testament
Psalm 110 is the most frequently quoted or alluded to psalm in the New Testament. The apostles consistently understood it as referring to Jesus Christ.

• The Gospels: (Matt. 22:41-46; Mark 12:35-37; Luke 20:41-44) Jesus reveals that the Messiah is both David's Son and David's Lord.
• Acts: (2:32-36; 5:30-31) Peter proclaims that Jesus' resurrection and ascension fulfilled Psalm 110:1. He now reigns at the Father's right hand.
• Paul: (Rom. 8:34; 1 Cor. 15:25-28; Eph. 1:20-22; Col. 3:1) Jesus is enthroned as King, intercedes for His people, and will reign until every enemy is defeated.
• Hebrews: (1:3, 13; 5-10; 12:2) Jesus fulfills Psalm 110 completely as the eternal King-Priest after the order of Melchizedek.
• Peter: (1 Pet. 3:22) The risen Jesus reigns over every angelic and earthly authority.

The New Testament's message is clear: Jesus is David's Lord, God's eternal Priest-King, enthroned at the Father's right hand, reigning now until every enemy is placed beneath His feet.
