Welcome to the former online home of New City Baptist Church!

Our congregation approved a merger with Mount Pleasant Road Baptist Church on January 21, 2024.

Once we receive the green light from the CRA, we will be officially known as Mount Pleasant Baptist Church. For now, we are one church under that name (spiritually), but two charities (legally).

Join us at 10:30am every Sunday and 7:30pm every Thursday at 527 Mt. Pleasant Rd.

We are a group of Christians committed to living to the glory of God in the heart of Toronto. We have a passionate desire to tell others the good news of God's forgiveness of sin through the sacrifice of his Son, Jesus Christ.

We are associated with the Fellowship of Evangelical Baptist Churches, and we promote many of the resources produced by 9Marks and TGC Canada.

The congregations of New City Baptist Church and Mount Pleasant Road Baptist Church approved a merger on January 21, 2024. While, we are together now as one spiritual unit under the name "Mount Pleasant Baptist Church", there are still some legal steps that need to play out in the coming months. If considering any monetary donation, please use the names of the former organizations until otherwise stated.

Sunday Service Times (@527 Mt. Pleasant Rd.)

Corporate Worship - 10:30am

Adult Sunday School - 9:30am (spring session: March 3rd - June 16th, except Easter Sunday)

What to Expect

Our corporate worship services are a blend of casual and formal, contemporary and traditional. The music we sing to God and to each other spans all of church history, including songs written today.

01-02

Our services typically last 80 minutes. There is usually a brief time of welcome and updates on things coming up in the life of our church. Each service is book ended by scripture with a call to worship and a benediction. This is followed by worship through congregational singing, the use of creeds and responsive readings, several corporate prayers of praise, confession, and intercession, and the public reading of scripture. The centre of our corporate worship service is the sermon, which is normally preached expositionally from a passage of the bible. After the service, there is a time to enjoy one another's company over coffee and light refreshments. We share a potluck monthly.

It is our desire to not only worship God through our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, but to foster an environment where critical questions are freely asked and where people promoting worldviews contrary to the teaching of the bible are tolerated with love and patience, although at Mount Pleasant, we believe the bible is true and we will teach it as such. Even if you are very skeptical, we would love to have you with us, and to bring your questions to God's Word.

Childcare Details

Children 7 and older take part in the main service (there are colouring books and "Action Bibles" available, if desired).

3 to 6-year-olds

During our corporate worship service, we normally run a program for children 3 to 6-year olds.

When you arrive with your child, please register them at the kids' sign in table. Parents will receive a tag with a code that matches a code on a sticker worn by their child.

The children in this age group begin the morning in the main service. Before the sermon begins, they will be formally dismissed to their program. We currently run a teaching program called Hide N' Seek Kids. For curriculum details, click here.

Immediately after the sermon, parents are asked to go to the appropriate classroom to pick up their child. To sign out your child, simply hand your tag to one of our volunteers. You can then return to the main auditorium with your child for the closing song and benediction.

Toddlers & Babies

Parents of children two and under are able to make use of a nursery-style room. This room is not supervised or a fully-equipped nursery, but there are some toys available and it is a place where little ones can run around free and loud!
